Perfection is attained not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away.

When Aethos launched four years ago, it became the lightest production road bike ever and delivered a ride so incredible, many riders called it perfect. Specialized created this engineering marvel by breaking every rule: their own engineering assumptions, the UCI’s weight limits, and the industry’s idea of what a modern road bike should be.

But Specialized weren’t finished. Specialized were obsessed with making it even better for more riders. So Specialized refined the geometry, equipped it with all-new Roval Alpinist components, and made subtle, but significant improvements.

The result? More Perfect for more riders.

Taller Stack

A 15 mm taller stack eases pressure on hands and shoulders, making long days in the saddle more comfortable. By raising the bar position slightly, riders can stay relaxed and powerful deeper into big days in the mountains.

Longer Wheelbase

A 7mm longer wheelbase brings confidence at speed. On fast alpine descents or exposed crosswinds, that extra stability translates into smooth, predictable handling without dulling the responsiveness.

Slacker Headtube

A 0.5° slacker headtube reshapes steering feel, adding calmness to the front end while keeping the bike razor sharp when pushed hard. The result is smoother control and the confidence to carve harder through corners.

More Clearance, No Compromise

Room for up to 35 mm tyres adds comfort, grip, and versatility—without compromise to weight or feel. To stay under 600 grams and still deliver this clearance and the new geometry, our engineers pushed carbon layup further than ever. If Aethos 1 was a 10/10, Aethos 2 pushed it to 12. They visited the factory again and again—refining each ply by fractions of a millimeter. Not just to meet a number, but to unlock the most elegant ride Specialized ever created.

Specialized didn’t just create our most optimized layup ever, Specialized re-engineered every detail, from seat post clap clamp (-9grams), brake mounts (-2grams), BB-Cups (-6 grams) to the UDH derailleur hanger (-2grams) , to maintain the world’s lightest disc road frame and deliver complete builds that are even lighter than before.

All-New Roval Alpinist Components

Aethos and Roval Alpinist were made for each other. Every detail of the new Alpinist cockpit and wheels has been re-engineered for lighter weight, timeless style, and better ergonomics.

Alpinist II Cockpit

At just 270 grams (400x100), oval tops reduce hand pressure, a four-degree flare supports natural wrist angles, and 28% more damping minimizes fatigue. Fully integrated with clean, classic lines, it’s the lightest, most ergonomic cockpit Specialized ever made.

Alpinist CLX III Wheels

The same trusted rim, now lighter than ever at 1,131 grams. New Aero Composite spokes are lighter and stronger than steel, paired with hubs that cut grams without cutting durability. Hooked rims ensure secure tire retention and lasting confidence.
