BIANCHI MEGAPRO XL REPARTO CORSE 1998
In 1998 Marco Pantani became the 7th
rider in history to win the Giro-Tour
double in a single year. He rode a
custom built Aluminium MegaPro XL
Bianchi.
This Pantani replica, is based on a top
of the line commemorative bike, issued in 1999 by Bianchi to celebrate his historic double.
Like Pantani’s original, it is built using a lightweight Dedaccia triple-butted alloy tubeset, and was
painted in in the Mercatone Uno team colours.
The complete bike weighs only 6.96Kg and measures 53cm Seat tube C-T & 54cm top tube C-C.
The following original 1998 components were sourced to match the original Pantani 1998 team
specification:
Full 1998 Campagnolo Titanium Record 9 speed group set. Including the one year only correct
record alloy bladed 9 speed Ergo levers with left lever gutted and a down tube shifter fitted.
Pantani insisted on a down tube shifter for the front derailleur.
Time Full Carbon front fork
Correct iconic Selle Italia Flite Titanium saddle. Correct ITM handlebar and stem.
Correct Time Equipe Pro Magnesium pedals.
Campy Electron wheels with yellow tyres,
It has standard threaded Campagnolo Record bottom bracket shell, non-integrated 1’ head tube
for the Time carbon fork and 27.2mm Campagnolo titanium seat post.
Included is the original 1999 Bianchi fork and the original 1999 carbon 9 speed levers.
For riding, if desired, is a spare 1998 saddle and a set of standard red Look pedals. Also included
is a Mercatone Uno replica jersey (small)
Frame paint is original with some wear and a few small chips, and there is some fading of the
saddle and stem from storage.
The bike has not been ridden in last 5 years but is very light and rides beautifully.
